Agility Camps here at Dogwood are designed to offer you and your canine companion with an opportunity to have fun, relax, and get some great agility training in a small group. Training is very individualized as camp registration is limited to 4-6 dogs. The relaxing rural setting provides an excellent backdrop for an agility vacation! Spend time improving your agility skills, enjoy some sightseeing activities in the Columbus area, and relax with a book by the pond. What a way to spend a few days!!

Our indoor and outdoor training rings also offer excellent training opportunities for competing outdoors and/or competing in unfamiliar settings. Our completely fenced property also affords the security you desire when training outdoors. No need to worry….Fido can’t run off!

Want to “mix it up” with some Obedience, Flyball, Freestyle, or Frisbee training as well? Dogwood camps offer demonstrations and “play sessions” in all sorts of canine activities so that both you and your canine have ample opportunity for “recess” in between agility work outs.

New to agility? Do you think the idea of agility camp sounds great but don’t think you and your dog are ready to train with more experienced folks? Try our Beginner Camp. This camp is designed for the dog/handler teams who have taken a beginning class and learned how to perform all the obstacles and are now looking for more opportunity to improve your handling skills, to increase your dog’s drive and motivation, or simply to gain more experience. This camp will touch on important foundation skills, basic obstacle performance, building drive and gaining confidence running simple courses.

Check out the schedule below to find the camp for YOU!

Dogwood Agility Camps 2008:

The camps being offered this summer are being offered at the wonderfully low price of $150 for the 2 day Beginner Camp and $225 for the 3 day Agility Camp.

Dogwood Agility Camp for Beginners
June 28 & June 29, 2008

June camp for "Beginners" will focus on building drive, basic handling maneuvers (front & rear crosses, etc.), running Novice level courses, and course analysis. Basically, we’ll work on the things you need to focus on to be getting ready for competition. The specifics of the training will be altered based upon the experience of the dog/handler teams in attendance. Dogs should be familiar with and confident on all obstacles and be at least 12 months of age.

Dogwood Agility Camps
July 18, 19 & 20
Aug 22, 23 & 24
Sept 12, 13 & 14

The July, August and September camps will be designed based upon the experience of the agility teams registered. Exercises, courses, and training focus will attempt to meet the needs of the attendees. Registrants should be competing at least at the Open level for these camps.

All camps run 9am-4pm each day, with breakfast and lunch provided. We'll be working for about 6 hours (1 hour for lunch) with numerous short "recesses" for the dogs so they are not over worked. There is ample space for the dogs to exercise, swim in a small pond, and just plain run around having fun so they can relax a bit.

There are numerous hotels within a 15-25 minute drive. More details will be provided as the camp dates approach.

There are various tourist activities, restaurants and shopping malls within 25-30 minutes so your evenings offer a variety of activity as well.

I think you'll find this a very helpful, fun agility camp in a beautiful rural environment at a price that can't be beat!!
